The British Touring Car Championship resumes on August 11th and 12th at the popular Snetterton circuit in Norfolk. With excellent spectator facilities, this will be the second year that the BTCC have raced on the new '300' circuit layout which proved to be a real hit with fans and drivers alike last year.

Following an exciting and closely fought first half of the 2012 season, the Honda Yuasa Racing Team pairing of Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden are currently at the top of the championship standings. Although Shedden has won more races than any other driver so far this year with 6 victories, Neal has scored points more consistently than his team-mate and leads Shedden in the championship by a single point.

Jason Plato is currently 3rd in the championship for MG KX Momentum Racing which is an outstanding achievement for the team considering their relatively late entry into the 2012 championship and the fact that it is the first year of BTCC racing for the MG6 car. Both Plato and team-mate Andy Neate have said that the car still isn't yet to their liking, so if the team can continue to develop and improve the car during the second half of the season, Plato could well be on course for his 3rd BTCC title.

Hot on the heels of the top 3 are eBay Motors driver Rob Collard and Pirtek Racing's Andrew Jordan who are 4th and 5th respectively. Collard won the first race of the season at Brands Hatch but despite several podium finishes, has not won a race since then. Jordan has yet to win a race this year, however consistent points scoring have kept him in contention.

Having missed the last 3 meetings, John Thorne is expecting to resume his maiden BTCC campaign at Snetterton in the Thorney Motorsport Vauxhall VXR-R. Thorne recently appeared in the Channel 4 programme Come Dine With Me where he scooped the £1,000 prize. No doubt he will be hoping his good fortune continues into the 2nd half of the BTCC season!

Tickets for the British Touring Car Championship meeting at Snetterton can be obtained from the Snetterton web site or via the ticket hotline on 0843 453 9000. Children under 13 get FREE admission all weekend if accompanied by an adult.
