Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff dominate free practice at Snetterton as their MG KX Momentum Racing MG6s top the time sheets in both sessions.

Following its summer break, the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship returned to action today as the drivers took to the fabulous '300' circuit at Snetterton in Norfolk for the first of the two free practice sessions for the 6th meeting of the 2013 season.

First on track was defending BTCC champion Gordon Shedden in his Honda Yuasa Racing Civic followed by Sam Tordoff, Matt Neal and Jason Plato. Dave Newsham was the first driver to break the 2 minute barrier in his Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Avensis. At the half way point, Sam Tordoff was fastest with MG KX Momentum Racing team-mate Jason Plato 2nd. Adam Morgan was 3rd fastest in the Ciceley Racing Toyota Avensis with Matt Neal 4th for Honda Yuasa Racing.

In the closing minutes it was Jason Plato at the top of the time sheet with Sam Tordoff 2nd and Dave Newsham 3rd ahead of Adam Morgan and Colin Turkington. Andrew Jordan then went 3rd fastest in his Pirtek Racing Honda Civic. The session ended with Plato fastest, Tordoff 2nd and Jordan 3rd. Dave Newsham, Adam Morgan and Aron Smith completed the top 6 with Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal struggling in 8th and 11th place.

The MG KX Momentum Racing duo consolidated their performance in the second free practice session with Sam Tordoff posting the fastest time, 0.241 seconds ahead of team-mate Jason Plato in 2nd place. Gordon Shedden improved on his earlier result by posting the 3rd fastest time whilst Honda Yuasa Racing team-mate Matt Neal could only manage a slight improvement, finishing the session in 8th position. Dave Newsham matched his earlier performance by finishing the second session in 4th place ahead of Andrew Jordan and Adam Morgan.

The next BTCC action from Snetterton this afternoon is the all-important qualifying session to determine the grid for the first of tomorrow's three races and for the fastest qualifier, the first championship point of the weekend.
