As we head towards Christmas, several British Touring Car Championship teams have been showing off their cars and testing with new drivers ready for the 2014 season. There have also been several more big names from the touring car world confirmed as guests at Autosport international which will be at the Birmingham NEC from the 9th to the 12th of January 2014.

Hard on the heels of Andrew Jordan's historic championship winning season, the Pirtek Racing team were at Donington Park today with Andrew's new team-mate Martin Depper sporting the number 30 on his car. Andrew was on hand to give the team's second driver some advice on the Honda Civic and Depper looked very pleased with his day's work. Depper isn't new to the BTCC, previously having driven the BMW of Forster Motorsport.

Also at Donington Park were the United Autosports squad with the ex-Dynojet Toyota Avensis they acquired in the hope of gaining an entry to the 2014 BTCC season. Shaking the car down was James Cole who is hoping to get a drive with the team and improve on his disappointing performances last season. Team boss Richard Dean was philosophical on his line-up for next year, should a licence be granted to the them: "We will be testing a few drivers before the circuits shut for the winter break." he said. "The BTCC is a major championship so of course we want to be involved, but there is a stringent new entry process and we aren't making any presumptions about being granted a slot on the grid."

Elsewhere, the Scottish Motor Racing Club held a very enjoyable evening in Aberdeen hosting cars from a number of series including a special guest appearance by Aiden Moffat and his NGTC Chevrolet Cruze. Interestingly, the team unveiled an experimental livery on the car - a very striking copper and blue number that attracted a lot of interest on the night. Aiden himself was pleased with the colour scheme and admitted that it was his idea. "I love it, but we are aware that this is only an exercise at this stage. Clearly as sponsors come on board the livery will change."

Finally for this news round-up, Autosport International are proud to confirm that the last 3 BTCC champions - Andrew Jordan, Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal - will all be guests at the show to be held at the Birmingham NEC on the New Year. We can also announce that we will be running a competition over the festive period to win free tickets to the event. Watch this space!!
