In his introduction to the season, series director Alan Gow was full of enthusiasm as he outlined the plans for the year ahead. "With a full grid of 30 cars, all of which are now to the same specification, it is going to be a classic year" Gow said. "I think that in 20 years' time, we will look back on this as a golden era of British motorsport."

After the introduction there was an announcement from Dunlop that there has been a change in the soft compound tyre to promote better racing this season. Whilst keeping the same compound, a different construction technique will mean a bigger difference in performance between this and the standard tyre. In a separate change there will also be an announcement at 10:00 on race days outlining which races each driver will be using the soft tyres. This will allow fans more chance to compare the cars in the races.

Motorbase were finally able to confirm their second driver alongside Fabrizio Giovanardi at Airwaves Racing. After much speculation, Mat Jackson was confirmed for his 4th season in the car. "We have been talking to Mat all winter and are delighted to have him back." said team boss Dave Bartrum. Although it was a very late announcement Jackson was able to get to Donington Park and shake the car down in the afternoon session.

After the announcements, attention turned to the pit lane where several teams unveiled their new livery including Aiden Moffat's Laser Tools Racing Chevrolet Cruze, Rob Austin's Exocet Racing Audi A4 and Rob Holland's Rotek Racing Audi S3 Saloon.
