BMR's fabulous four rack up the testing miles at Oulton Park

By MJP Media | 3 March 2015

On a cold day at Oulton Park we had exclusive access to the BMR team as they continued the most comprehensive testing schedule of the BTCC teams with all four drivers in action at the Cheshire circuit.

The BMR team were out in force today at Oulton Park as they continued to develop the cars for all four drivers ahead of the 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. Warren Scott, Jason Plato, Aron Smith and defending champion Colin Turkington all completed plenty of laps in the spring sunshine. With such a strong team and some very different driving styles, team owner Warren Scott is very positive ahead of the 2015 season.

Scott commented: "Things are going really well. The team is coming together nicely and we are putting in a lot of hard miles getting the cars where we all want them to be. The funniest thing from my point of view is that I am probably the only racing driver in history who will turn up to work and can happily be the slowest driver in the team. Mind you, I will still be aiming to be faster than most other cars on the grid!" It is clear that Warren and the team are aiming high and with Warren's determination and the team's obvious talent, who are we to doubt their chances of pulling off titles this season.

Defending champion Turkington was also bullish, saying: "It's great to be with the team and to be back on the grid. Warren is a fantastic guy to work with and the car is pretty good even at this stage. We have a way to go, but we have lots of testing booked in and I am sure we will be competitive when the real action gets under way."

Jason Plato was his usual reflective self at this stage of a new project but was looking forward to the rest of the team's testing and the season. "We are moving forward" he said "but at this stage things are going slowly as we move things forward. We are very methodical as a team and that is good as we will test the cars at several different circuits to make sure we cover all bases."

Aron Smith greeted us with a huge boyish smile as he enjoys every minute in his Volkswagen CC, having a season in the car already under his belt. "I'm loving every minute of it and especially at this time of year where we try a million and one things looking for the most favourable settings."

The team looked good today with all the drivers having positive views on things. The cars looked comfortable on track and everyone was enjoying their roles in the team. A charismatic team boss (and a genuinely nice guy), an outstanding driver line-up and a great support crew should see BMR on the podium regularly in 2015. Don't be surprised if they lift some silverware this season!
