Honda Racing continue testing the new 2012 BTCC Civic

By MJP Media | 23 February 2012

The Honda Racing Team's new Civic hit the track for the second time this week with a visit to Leicestershire's Donington Park today, five weeks before the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship gets under way at Brands Hatch in Kent on Sunday 1 April.

The Civic, built to the BTCC's latest turbo-charged Next Generation Touring Car regulations, made an immediate impression with on-lookers, one commenting: "You cannot believe how much bulk it has until you see it in the flesh - a real mean machine."

Reigning BTCC Champion Matt Neal and Scottish team-mate Gordon Shedden have both driven the car and are naturally excited as is the team. "The team have all been working incredibly hard since the start of the NGTC programme back in August so everybody's very excited to see the new car on track for the first time." team manager Peter Crolla said. He continued: "It'll be interesting from the point of view of both drivers and engineers to see how the car behaves on a track where we were very competitive with the S2000 Civic and we can really start to understand and develop the new car."
