The wind and rain which beset the 1st race of the day from Thruxton was still in evidence for the start of the 2nd race. Indeed, conditions were such that the race was started with a 'rolling start' behind the Safety Car rather than the usual 'standing start' associated with British Touring Car Championship races.

As the Safety Car peeled off and the racing started, pole-sitter Mat Jackson got a good start as did Dave Newsham and Jason Plato behind him. Gordon Shedden soon passed Frank Wrathall for 5th place and then set about attacking the eBay Motors BMW 320si of Rob Collard and the MG KX Momentum Racing MG6 of Plato. Shedden soon found a way past and then set about the business of passing Dave Newsham for 2nd place which he did on lap 5.

On lap 7, Jason Plato passed the Vauxhall Vectra of Dave Newsham to take 3rd place as the battle at the front between Mat Jackson and Gordon Shedden intensified with Shedden taking the lead on lap 9. Shedden was clearly on a charge as he soon started to extend a significant lead over Jackson. Also on a charge, Jason Plato was gaining ground on Mat Jackson, finally gaining 2nd place from the Ford Focus driver on lap 13.

In the closing laps, Frank Wrathall was putting pressure on Mat Jackson for 3rd place however he didn't manage to find a way past in the number of laps available. At the chequered flag at was victory for Gordon Shedden and Honda Yuasa Racing with Jason Plato 2nd and Mat Jackson 3rd. Frank Wrathall finished 4th with Matt Neal 5th and Dave Newsham 6th.

The reverse grid system will see the top 9 places from race 2 reversed to form the grid for the final race of the day, giving pole position to the Team HARD. Honda Civic of Tony Gilham alongside the Redstone Racing Ford Focus of Aron Smith. Rob Collard and Dave Newsham will start on the 2nd row of the grid ahead of Matt Neal and Frank Wrathall.
