The British Touring Car Championship resumes on August 2nd and 3rd at the popular Snetterton circuit in Norfolk. With excellent spectator facilities, this will be the fourth year that the BTCC has raced on the '300' circuit layout which has proved to be a real hit with fans and drivers alike.

The Snetterton '300' circuit was introduced in 2011 with the creation of a new infield section and boasts some of the best views in national motorsport, with most of the circuit being visible from its three large spectator bankings at the Montreal, Palmer and Agostini corners. The layout provides fantastic racing and usually a fair bit of drama as well - few people will have forgotten Jason Plato's dramatic roll in the third race last year!

Following a string of solid results at the previous two meetings, eBay Motors driver and 2009 BTCC Drivers' Champion Colin Turkington entered the summer break at the top of the championship standings and starts the second half of the season on 228 points, just 7 points ahead of former BTCC champion Gordon Shedden on 221 points. Two more former champions are only just behind in the shape of defending champion Andrew Jordan and Jason Plato who are 3rd and 4th on 200 and 179 points respectively. Also in contention is Turkington's eBay Motors team-mate Rob Collard in 5th with 170 points.

Whilst the Drivers' Championship may appear to be a 5-way battle between Colin Turkington, Gordon Shedden, Andrew Jordan, Jason Plato and Rob Collard, the likes of Mat Jackson (6th), Matt Neal (7th) and Sam Tordoff (8th) are not far behind and with 15 races still left on the calendar and points galore to be won, the second half of the 2014 BTCC season is certain to be as close and as thrilling as ever. The Manufacturers/Constructors Championship could hardly be any closer with Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff earning MG/888 at total of 462 points and Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden earning Honda/Team Dynamics 461 points as we head to Snetterton.
