Following their success in the first race of the day, Jason Plato and Colin Turkington started the 2nd race from Snetterton on the front row of the grid, Plato taking pole position in his MG KX Clubcard Fuel Save MG6. On row two was the Honda Yuasa Racing Civic Tourer of Matt Neal and the Wix Racing Mercedes Benz A-Class of Adam Morgan. Chrome Edition Restart Racing's Alain Menu started on row three with team-mate Aron Smith.

Although Jason Plato and Colin Turkington both got good starts, the addition success ballast carried by Plato took its toll and Turkington was quickly able to pass and take the lead before the safety car was deployed whilst marshals dealt with the Volkswagen CC of Alain Menu. After three safety car laps, racing resumed again. Before the safety car period, Matt Neal had taken 3rd place as Sam Tordoff slipped down the field.

As the race progressed, the superior pace of Jason Plato's MG6 came to the fore as he put intense pressure on Colin Turkington in the eBay Motors BMW 125i M Sport. Catching the BMW was one thing but passing was quite another and a thrilling battle developed. At the restart, defending BTCC champion Andrew Jordan had made his way up from 16th on the grid to be running in 10th however a spin on lap 5 sent the Pirtek Racing driver back down the field and out of contention.

At the front, Jason Plato was closing the gap on Colin Turkington and finally managed to find a way past on lap 9. Turkington tried to regain the place in the following laps but to no avail. Behind the leaders, Gordon Shedden had passed his Honda Yuasa Racing team-mate Matt Neal to take 3rd place. The front runners then held their positions to the end of the race.

Gordon Shedden finished 3rd to take the final podium position ahead of Matt Neal with Adam Morgan and Mat Jackson completing the top 6 for Wix Racing and Airwaves Racing respectively.

The number 8 ball was randomly selected for the reverse grid for the final race of the day, putting the Chrome Edition Restart Racing Volkswagen CC of Aron Smith in pole position alongside the Airwaves Racing Ford Focus ST of Fabrizio Giovanardi. Row 2 will be taken by Mat Jackson and Adam Morgan with Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden on row 3.
