Dunlop and Honda help MacMillan Cancer Support at Silverstone

By MJP Media | 7 October 2015

On the weekend that saw the annual MacMillan Cancer Support coffee mornings, the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship welcomed this fantastic charity in a bid to help raise the charity's funds.

MacMillan Cancer Support were given free privileged access to the paddock and provided race goers and teams alike with special information leaflets as well as cakes in their fund raising efforts. The bumper crowd and the hot weather certainly helped as did support from Silverstone Circuit and students from Silverstone UTC, which opened in September 2013 and is a brand new centre of excellence for young people wanting to break into the specialist fields of High Performance Engineering and Business & Technical Events Management.

We caught up with the students on the Friday when they received a guided tour of the paddock, culminating in a trip into the Honda Yuasa Racing garage where they got a bit of a shock. Rather than just buying a cake or two, the team got the fundraising off to a great start by buying all of the cakes for the team's next break and allowed the students to be pictured with championship contender Gordon Shedden's car.

MacMillan Cancer Support were further helped by Dunlop as the drivers were invited to show their support on the Saturday morning and Honda were active throughout a weekend in which Matt Neal celebrated 25 years in the BTCC which started with his series debut at Silverstone.
