Podium finishes for Sam Tordoff, Colin Turkington and Jason Plato with Tom Ingram

Following his outstanding performance in race one when he gave Subaru their maiden BTCC victory, former BTCC Drivers' Championship winner Colin Turkington lined up in pole position for the second race of the day in his Silverline Subaru BMR Racing Levorg GT which, unlike the previous race, would now have to carry 75Kg of success ballast around the Oulton Park Island circuit. Sam Tordoff joined Turkington on the front row of the grid with Jason Plato and Gordon Shedden on row two. Tom Ingram and Daniel Lloyd started on row three with Josh Cook and Aron Smith on row four.

Off the line it was Sam Tordoff in the Team JCT600 with GardX BMW 125i M Sport who got the better start, passing Colin Turkington to take the lead into Old Hall Corner. First lap incidents caused Ashley Sutton to crawl back to the pits in his MG Racing RCIB Insurance MG6GT while broken suspension on Aiden Moffat's Laser Tool Racing Mercedes Benz A-Class caused the Safety Car to be deployed for a lap. When racing resumed, Tordoff extended a slight gap over the Levorg GTs of Turkington and Plato.

On lap 4 Eurotech Racing's Daniel Lloyd lost out to Matt Neal in the Halfords Yuasa Racing Honda Civic Type R for 7th place while Jason Plato posted the fastest lap of the race so far in his quest to challenge team-mate Colin Turkington for 2nd place. Gordon Shedden was also in the mix, hunting down Plato for 3rd place.

By lap 7 it was Rob Collard who was the man on the move in his Team JCT600 with GardX BMW 125i M Sport, passing his WSR team-mate Jack Goff for 9th place then moving up to 8th before passing Matt Neal for 7th on lap 8. Neal regained the position on lap 9 only to lose it again to Collard on the following lap. Collard then set about attacking Josh Cook for 6th place which he achieved on lap 12 but he then ran wide coming out of Old Hall Corner and collected a puncture, causing him to limp back to the pits. He re-joined the race 2 laps down.

The race ended with a solid victory for Sam Tordoff who now leads the Drivers' Championship by 5 points over Matt Neal and becomes the 9th different driver to win a BTCC race this year. Colin Turkington and Jason Plato consolidated their earlier success with another two podium finishes for Silverline Subaru BMR Racing by finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively in their Levorg GTs. Gordon Shedden finished 4th with Tom Ingram 5th and Josh Cook 6th. Matt Neal, Andrew Jordan, Jack Goff and Mat Jackson rounded out the top ten.

With the reverse grid draw producing the number 7, Matt Neal will start the final race of the day from Oulton Park in pole position alongside Josh Cook with Tom Ingram and Gordon Shedden on row two. Jason Plato will start with team-mate Colin Turkington on row three with Sam Tordoff and Andrew Jordan on row 4. Will Silverline Subaru BMR Racing be able to add more podium finishes to their collection? Will Matt Neal re-gain the lead in the Drivers' Championship? We'll find out after the final race of the day from Oulton Park.
