Following their disappointment during qualifying on Saturday when they qualified down in 18th and 19th place, the Honda Yuasa Racing Team were delighted to score a 1-2 victory in the final race at Thruxton. Both drivers got good starts with Matt Neal running in 2nd place and Gordon Shedden running in 4th from their 5th and 9th positions on the grid during the first lap.

By the end of lap 2 Shedden had made his way up 2nd place behind Tony Gilham who had started race 3 from pole position thanks to the reverse grid system. Gilham held the lead until lap 4 when he ran wide, allowing the works Hondas to take the lead.
