Following the free practice sessions earlier today, all eyes were on the qualifying session to see whether the Honda Yuasa Racing Team Civics of Gordon Shedden and Matt Neil could improve on their disappointing morning sessions. Daniel Welch was hoping to maintain his fantastic pace whilst the eBay Motors BMWs, the two MG KX Momentum Racing MG6s and Dave Newsham in the Team ES Racing.com Vauxhall Vectra were bound to be competitive.

Qualifying started in bright sunshine with the early pace being set by Tom Onslow-Cole in the eBay Motors BMW 320si with a time of 60.519 seconds. This was beaten by Rob Austin in the Audi A4 on his 4th flying lap, the first man to go under 1 minute. This time was then smashed by Jason Plato in the MG6 with a time of 58.964 with Rob Collard just behind him on a 59.149. Frank Wrathall went 3rd in the Dynojet Toyota Avensis with Matt Neal 4th.

One third of the way through the session, Dave Newsham put in a lap time of 58.969 to go 2nd as Mat Jackson went 3rd with Rob Collard 4th and Frank Wrathall 5th. Surprisingly, championship leader Gordon Shedden was down in 18th place with team-mate Matt Neal in 8th. Daniel Welch's Proton Persona was running well in 6th with Aron Smith in the Ford Focus in 7th.

At the end of the session it was Jason Plato who took pole position from Mat Jackson in 2nd, Frank Wrathall 3rd, Rob Collard 4th, Dave Newsham 5th and Daniel Welch 6th. Aron Smith and Tom Onslow-Cole qualified 7th and 8th with Adam Morgan and Matt Neal rounding out the top 10. Gordon Shedden's miserable day continued and he finished qualifying in a dismal 19th position.
