Mat Jackson wins the 2nd race of the day from Silverstone after a sensational drive from 17th on the grid. Matt Neal's day went up in smoke following an engine fire.

The second Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race from Silverstone started with Jason Plato on pole for MG KX Momentum Racing alongside Dave Newsham's Team ES Racing.com Vauxhall Vectra. Aron Smith's Redstone Racing Ford Focus started on the 2nd row of the grid alongside Rob Collard's eBay Motors BMW 320si with Rob Austin's Audi A4 and Nick Foster's eBay Motors BMW on row 3.

From the start, Jason Plato took a commanding lead in his MG6. Behind Plato, Rob Collard was pushing hard in 2nd place with Dave Newsham in 3rd. Also in the leading pack were Aron Smith in 4th and Rob Austin in 5th. Meanwhile, Mat Jackson was storming up the field from his 17th place on the grid, ending the first lap in 12th place. By lap 5 he had broken into the top ten and by lap 8 had risen to 5th place ahead of Rob Austin.

Mat Jackson maintained 5th place until passing team-mate Aron Smith on lap 16. Continuing his charge, he proceeded to pass Dave Newsham for 3rd place on lap 18. Jason Plato looked set to secure his second win of the day, however an electrical problem with his MG6 caused him to retire from the race on lap 20. Rob Collard briefly led the race until Jackson passed him on lap 20.

At the chequered flag it was victory for Mat Jackson and the NGTC specification Redstone Racing Ford Focus - a sensational result having started the race 17th on the grid. Joining Jackson on the podium were Rob Collard who finished 2nd and Dave Newsham who finished 3rd. Aron Smith finished 4th with Rob Austin 5th and Tom Onslow-Cole 6th.

Following his retirement in the first race, defending BTCC champion Matt Neal's day continued to crumble when his Honda Yuasa Racing Team Civic suffered an engine fire, causing him to retire on lap 12.

The reverse grid for the final race of the day will see the eBay Motors BMW 320si of Nick Foster in pole position alongside Andrew Jordan in the Pirtek Racing Honda Civic. Daniel Welch in the Proton Persona will start on the 2nd row with Gordon Shedden in the Honda Yuasa Racing Team Civic. Tom Onslow-Cole and Rob Austin will start on the 3rd row of the grid.
